Gregory Shaw is Professor of Religious Studies at Stonehill College in Easton, MA. He is the author of Theurgy and the Soul: The Neoplatonism of Iamblichus, and articles on the later Neoplatonists and Iamblichus in particular. His current work explores the Platonic teaching that the gods reveal themselves in human souls, a tradition of human and divine co-existence now lost to the West. Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan was head of the Sufi Order International for almost 50 years. He is internationally recognized among leaders of all faiths as a master of meditation. Trained in the major spiritual traditions, his teaching is derived from both the rich mystical tradition of the East and the esoteric heritage and scholarship of the West, and from music, science, and psychology. Pir Vilayat initiated dozens of international gatherings of religious, spiritual, and scientific leaders, and participated in many international and interfaith conferences promoting understanding and world peace. He passed from this life in 2004. |
